Duties of the McClain County Clerk

The County Clerk is one of eight elected officials in McClain County. Guided by Oklahoma State Statutes, the Clerk’s Office maintains vital public records, manages important county finances, and provides administrative support across county government.

Public Records & Registrar of Deeds
The Clerk serves as the official recorder for McClain County, preserving property records dating back to the original U.S. land grants. Records include:

  • Deeds, mortgages, plats, and mineral interests
  • Liens, court judgments, and tax liens
  • Oil and gas leases and related filings
  • Military discharge records (DD-214) — recorded free for veterans
  • Powers of attorney, trust agreements, and city charters


Board Secretary
The Clerk ensures accurate minutes and documentation for:

  • Board of County Commissioners
  • Excise Board
  • Tax Roll Correction Board
  • Equalization Board
  • Various Trust Authorities


Financial & Administrative Services
The Clerk’s Office:

  • Administers payroll and employee benefits
  • Oversees purchasing, procurement, and bidding
  • Processes accounts payable and receivable
  • Maintains county inventory records
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial reports
  • Supports budget management and financial compliance
