Documentary Stamp Tax, at a rate of .75 per $500, must be paid on the purchase price of property or minerals at the time of recording. Proof of the purchase price must accompany the deed. A closing statement, notarized bill of sale or Affidavit of Purchase Price is acceptable. These documents are not recorded and are only used by the County Clerk to determine the amount of Documentary Stamp Tax to apply to the deed.
Any exemption allowed by law must be on the face of the deed.
